Get 250 calling minutes and 50 SMS messages to 20 international destinations for $10, for 30 days.
That’s just 4c a minute.
Our International Add-on is perfect if you need to call or text overseas mobile numbers or landlines from New Zealand. It covers Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korean Republic, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, UK and USA.
This add-on does not work while you are outside of NZ. Please refer to our Roaming Add-On instead.
This is an add-on which allows you to call or send SMS messages to standard mobile and landline numbers in 20 countries from New Zealand.
At only $10 for 250 minutes, that works out to be 4c a minute – way cheaper than the 69c or $1.39 per minute usual OOB charge for calling international numbers.
If you purchase the international add-on, you will get 250 minutes and 50 TXTs to standard numbers to use within one month between Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korean Republic, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, UK and USA.
In your MyAccount, under the ‘Mobile’ tab at the top, click on ‘Purchase Plans and Addons‘, and you’ll be able to see ‘$10 International Addon‘. Click ‘Purchase this addon‘, and you’re good to go!
In your app, in the ‘Products‘ section in the bottom menu, under ‘Purchase plans and addons‘ in the bottom half of your screen, you’ll see the different Plans. Swipe left until you see the $10 International Add-On.
Pay Monthly customers will see the add-on charge in their next bill.
Pay Upfront (Prepay) customers will pay immediately.
If you’re not sure what kind of plan you’re on, go into your MyAccount or app, and select your plan under ‘Current Plans’.
Calls are rounded up to the next minute, so for example if you make a call that lasts 1 minute and 15 seconds, it will count as 2 minutes in your usage.
When you first buy the add on, auto-renewal is off by default, but you can turn auto-renewal on if you prefer. This means your add-on will automatically renew after it expires a month from when you buy it.
In your MyAccount, your usage will be visible in your Dashboard, under the ‘Mobile’ section.
In your app, tap on the ^ symbol next to ‘Domestic Usage’, and switch to ‘International Usage‘.
Reminder: calls are rounded up to the next nearest minute, so if you make a call lasting 1 minute and 15 seconds long, it will show as 2 minutes of usage in your add-on.
If you’re on Pay Monthly, you’ll automatically switch to the regular Out Of Bundle (OOB) per minute rate for that destination. You can buy the add-on again within the same month to get another 250 minutes and 50 SMS messages.
If you’re on Pay Upfront (Prepay), you will be unable to make further calls or texts to the included countries unless you buy the add-on again.
If you’re not sure what kind of plan you’re on, go into your MyAccount or app, select your plan under ‘Current Plans’.
You will lose any unused minutes or texts within the add-on at the end of the month.
What is it | How much | Do I have any other options |
---|---|---|
Voicemail | Calls to voicemail are FREE | Go for gold. And with unlimited talk and text on our plans, you can carry on connecting without worry. |
MMS PXT | 10 free MMS/PXT per month to NZ mobiles then no more can be sent. | If you are a serial PXTer you are better to send your messages via a messaging app like WhatsApp or Messenger instead, using your unlimited data. |
International calls & texts | $10 for 250 calling minutes and 50 SMS messages to use within 30 days with our International Add-on | You can also use an app like WhatsApp or Messenger to contact friends overseas while connected to WiFi or mobile data. If you're on Pay Monthly, if you call or SMS overseas outside of the International Add-on, you'll be charged per minute or per SMS at rates specific to that location. |
Roaming | For just $9 a day you can use your NZ non-stop data, minutes and SMS in our Daily Roaming destinations. | Our Daily Roaming Add-on is a pretty choice option. Otherwise you can stay connected via WiFi or a local SIM when you're travelling. |
Premium rate numbers | Calls/SMS messages to premium rate numbers (e.g. reply "yes" messages that are subject to additional charges) aren't available on our Pay Upfront plans. | To maintain our everyday low prices and remove bill surprises, our Pay Upfront plans don’t allow premium SMS or calls. That might mean for example that you need to call your dentist to confirm that appointment instead of replying by SMS |
