Unlike our unlimited data plans (no cap!), they’re more like your standard mobile plans, with a set amount of data per month.
You can check how much data you’ve used and how much is left on your plan in the Dashboard section of your MyAccount or app.
If you run out, grab a max speed data add-on or switch to one of our unlimited plans.
If you’re on a capped plan and you use all the data allocation within your plan, your mobile data will stop working, but you’ll still be able to make unlimited calls and send unlimited SMS messages.
If you find you’re often running out of data on a capped plan, you should probably switch to one of our unlimited plans.
Or, you can buy a data add-on for just enough GBs to tide you over until your next billing period.
If you’re new to Rocket Mobile:
Just click one of the big pink ‘Join Us’ buttons above, swipe left until you see the Capped plans, or select the ‘Capped Plans’ tab, then pick your plan.
If you’re an existing customer:
Simply go to the ‘Purchase plans and addons‘ part of your MyAccount or app, swipe left to the plan you want, and select ‘Switch to this plan‘.
You can switch back to your original monthly plan anytime using the Change Plan feature in your MyAccount or app.
Absolutely, just select the unlimited plan you want to switch to in your app or MyAccount under ‘Purchase plans and addons’. You can either choose to change your plan now or later (i.e. at your next billing date) in the app. If you select change plan now, you will be charged for the new plan immediately.
Our monthly plans actually last the entire month, not just 4 weeks, so you don’t have to pay 13 times a year. Even though the data is capped, calls and texts aren’t (with unlimited mins and texts to NZ and Aus), so you won’t run out of minutes or SMSes.
Whether you choose monthly or weekly, there’s no sneaky stuff with free voicemail, and 10 MMS included with the plan.
Group discounts are only available on monthly unlimited data Rocket, Plus or Max plans, so you’ll have to pick or switch to one of those to make the most of our group discounts. We think it’s well worth it though.
Friend referral credits are only available on monthly unlimited data plans, so you’ll have to switch to one of those to claim the offer.
If you run out of data on a capped plan, but don’t want to upgrade to an unlimited plan, you can buy a Max Speed Data Add-On to give you enough data to tide you over until your next billing cycle.
Go to the ‘Purchase plans and addons‘ part of your MyAccount or app, swipe to the add-on you want, and select ‘Purchase this add-on‘.
It’ll immediately be added to your account, and last for 7 days.
Auto-renew is switched to on by default, so you’ll need to turn this off if you don’t want the add-on to be automatically repurchased after it expires. Any unused data will expire after the end of the 7 days.
If you’re on a capped plan, your data usage will be shown in your MyAccount or app under your dashboard. If you buy a data add-on, the data amount will be added to the data part of the dashboard.
If you’re on an unlimited plan, your data usage will always show as unlimited in your dashboard. Your max speed data will be used up before the unlimited data at the usual speed of your plan (e.g. 2Mbps for Starter), so you can check whether you’re still getting max speed data by running a speed test. You can also check your daily data usage by clicking into the ‘Usage’ part of your MyAccount/app, and work it out from the day you purchased the add-on.
